KO & Geir Lysne & Christian Eriksen

May 8th 2016 – Rogaland Teater, Stavanger, Norway

NOTE! - In the kitchen with Sigbjørn Obstfelder An avant-garde poet who revolutionized poetry. An improvisational orchestra celebrating ten years. The city's best comedian with free rein. What happens when three of Stavanger's most distinctive and unpredictable artists merge on stage?

The poet Sigbjørn Obstfelder was born in Stavanger in 1866, and the 150th anniversary is celebrated throughout the year. Obstfelder is considered the Nordic region's first modernist, with iconic poems such as "I see" and "Rain". Few people know that Obstfelder's poetry is also full of musical references, and that Obstfelder was himself a skilled violinist. Add the Kitchen Orchestra, which for ten years has amazed and thrilled with its music. Maijazz and Rogaland Teater are proud to present the closing concert for the orchestra's tenth anniversary at this year's festival. Composer Geir Lysne has put together a playful and improvisational performance based on Obstfelder's lyrics, where the orchestra gets plenty of arms to take the performance in unexpected directions.
Christian Eriksen should be known to most people as an actor, musician and comedian. He will spar with Obstfelder's lyrics and the orchestra's music, and will have a free role on stage.
The concert is a collaboration between Obstfelderjubileet, Rogaland Teater and MaiJazz.
The concert is supported by the Norwegian Composers' Fund, the Det norske komponistfond, Norsk kulturråd and Rogaland fylkeskommune.
